Equipment collection a great success

2010-05-07

The OC Novice A Blazers, shown here at year-end party, were out in full force collecting used equipment April 24th.

Now for the door prizes!

The OCMHA and the Novice A Blazers extend a big thanks to those who stopped by the Brewer Arena parking lot Saturday, April 24th to donate your used equipment. The Blazers collected 12 or more hockey bags of equipment! Half of the equipment will be shipped to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut and the other half will be kept by the association to help local kids in need through the new ‘Hit the Ice’ Program headed up by the OCMHA executive.

The kids in Rankin Inlet are excited to get the new equipment! They have collected a number of pins, patches and vests as a gesture of their appreciation. The Blazers would like to draw names from all those who have donated to share these wonderful mementos from Nunavut – if you made a donation, could you please send a short email to our Blazers’ off-ice coordinator, Jeff Pouw, at jpouw@rogers.com.  The Blazers will draw names from the hat to determine the winners. We will contact all who donated by email to announce the results the week of 17-21 May.

We expect to ship the equipment north within the next month. If you weren’t able to make it last Saturday, but would still like to donate please contact Jeff Pouw before May 15th to arrange a drop off and entry into our draw.
