OYET 2019 for Roger Neilson House

To all OCMHA members,

As some of you may have heard, it has been recently decided that the Ottawa Year End Tournament (OYET) in Support of Roger Neilson House needs a refresh and reboot. 

Rather than proceed with the previously announced dates of March 29-31 for OYET 2019, the District and BMHL will meet this spring to decide the date(s), format and volunteer models for OYET going forward. 

We have the full support of the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Senators Foundation, Roger Neilson House and our various partners and sponsors. All stakeholders agree that OYET should continue as Ottawa's oldest house league tournament with an emphasis on fun and community involvement. 51 years and counting!

OCMHA's commitment to OYET has been unparalleled over the years. We budget for all registration fees and actively encourage 100% participation. The vast majority of our parents volunteer as OYET coordinators, arena reps and time/scorekeepers - all after a long hockey season dedicated to our players - thank you to all!

Each OCMHA has team 4 options:

1. A single rebate of $600 (OYET fees vary by divisions from $450-$650, players per team vary from 13-16) to be used towards your team budget (extra ice, exhibition games, another tournament, team party or an off ice event, refund to parents, etc, etc), We realise that another tournament (and free weekend)  will be hard to find at this date, and that OYET may have been your '3rd' tournament planned. 
2. Request OCMHA to donate $600 to the Sens Foundation and Roger Neilson House.
3. Do nothing, and $600 will remain in OCMHA's 2018-2019 operating budget, Financials are proposed and approved at the AGMs each May. There will be a carry-over to 2019-2020 of the amount of any OYET funds not used in options 1 and 2.
4. Any combination of the above totalling $600.

There is no 'right' option for your team and your decision will be confidential. We anticipate that all of these options will be selected depending on your team's specific situation. A message requesting your team's option will be sent to managers/coaches/treasurers.
