HEO Announcement re Current Status

By now most of you will have heard on Saturday, the GTHL (Greater Toronto Hockey League) announced a postponement of sanctioned activities until January 2021. This decision was a local one based on the circumstances present in their area of operations.

Understandably, many of you are asking if HEO will be following their lead and making a similar announcement. At this time, our plan is to continue to follow the process that we have communicated through our Return to Hockey plan. Stated plainly, HEO has no plans at this time to postpone operations.

Throughout the past several weeks, we have remained in close contact with the four public health units within HEO territory and, along with the HEO Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kristian Goulet, continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation very closely. We understand that the recent increase in cases is concerning and we may need to adjust our approach if the situation continues to worsen.

Our commitment to you is to keep you apprised of any changes and ensure you are notified prior to a broader communication.
