Season Winding Down

2021-03-19

Important announcement about the season

To all OCMHA,

I’m a little saddened to have to send this message. I hoped we would wrap up the season without any more changes. But, with the switch to "Covid-19 red zone", changes are inevitable.

  • The U7, U9, U11, U13 Divisions will continue with ice times until the end of March. Practices will be limited to drills only with no puck battle drills to conform with current restrictions. Your convener or coach will be in touch with you with ice times and pod assignments.
  • U15, U18 and U21 divisions will stop as of last night.
  • We are cancelling the 4 on 4 program in April. I know that many of you were looking forward to the program, but it is simply not viable under red zone restrictions. Details regarding refunds will be sent out in the next few weeks.

It has been a tough season with no games, constant changes, uncertainty, and plenty of ups and downs. Although I’m saddened the season is ending, I look back on the year with a lot of pride. Our incredible group of dedicated volunteers, both on and off the ice, have worked hard to provide a safe, enjoyable experience for our kids. The safety protocols we put together were used throughout the district and HEO. Sticking to those protocols will continue to keep all members safe. To all the volunteers, can’t thank you enough. Parents, thank you for taking it all in stride.

It's a little chilly this morning, but the weather is looking fantastic for the next week. We’ll be riding bikes, skateboarding, kicking soccer balls, playing baseball and basketball and simply enjoying the warm weather in no time. Take care, be safe and we will be back in the rinks in the fall.
