Police Records Checks and Qualifications for Team Volunteers - Upcoming deadline

Hi team staff,

Now that teams are sorted out and name bars are being attached, it is important to turn your attention to making sure that you team staff has all of the necessary qualifications, as some important deadlines are coming up.  Full requirements for team staff can be found here:

In summary, all team volunteers, including on ice helpers, bench staff, timekeepers etc. require a recent vulnerable sector police records check.   The deadline for roster staff to apply for the check and submit their receipt is October 31, 2021.  The application can be done online at the Ottawa Police Service website.

In addition, all volunteers who interact with the kids (coaches, trainers, on ice help) require Respect in Sport for Leaders and the Hockey Canada Gender Identity Course.

If any of your staff are missing any of the necessary qualifications, we ask that managers ensure that they complete those in the coming days.   And as we found out in 2019, HEO is not shy about auditing our volunteers, so your help with this is very much appreciated.
