Goalie Clinics

2022-02-03

As part of our return to hockey, OCMHA will continue their support of the goalie clinics.

Hello OCMHA Goalies, Parents and Guardians,

As part of our return to hockey, OCMHA will continue their support of the goalie clinics.

Where? Walkley Arena
When? Saturday afternoon on February 5, 12, & 26, and March 5
  • U13 and below goalies (2009 birth year and later) will be on the ice from 2:30PM-3:30PM, and
  • U15 and higher goalies (2008 birth year and earlier) will be on the ice from 3:30PM-4:30PM.
The ice time and training costs are covered by OCMHA that has made a strong commitment to support OCMHA goalie development.

Goalies must wear a full complement of goalie protective gear. Please see the following link for more detailed information on goalie masks: http://bytowndistrict.ca/page.php?page_id=126618

For U13 and below age groups, in addition to the BNQ throat protector (mitigate skate cuts) the goalie must also wear a dangler (protective plastic shield), which is provided by OCMHA in the goalie kit. We encourage teams to promote interest in the goalie position, particularly at the younger ager groups. As we are limited in the availability of goalie equipment, please coordinate the use and sharing of the goalie equipment at the team level (e.g., designated volunteer). Please contact Ian Astle (goalieequipment@ocmha.ca) for inquiries on goalie equipment.

For U15 and higher, the goalie must wear the BNQ approved throat protector and must wear either a dangler, or a CSA approved mask with elongated neck protection (the BMHL recommends the use of a dangler as an extra layer of neck protection).

Please contact me, Shawn Kenny (goaliedevelopment@ocmha.ca) for any inquiries on the goalie clinics.
