Important Safety Information for the OCMHA Restart

Hello everyone,
We are very excited to be getting back to hockey in the next few days, and want to recognize your flexibility and commitment to our safety measures to date.As you know, we’re not back to business as usual. Not even close really. Given the spread of new COVID variants in Ontario and their increased risk of airborne transmission, we would ask you to take a minute to review the protocols that we have in place and follow them closely over the remaining weeks of the season.
For the safety of everyone involved, we would ask that you pay particular attention to the following rules, which are based on Ottawa Public Health guidelines:
1.Before you come to the rink – < Complete the online health screening form > every time, and don’t come to hockey if you are sick or have been in contact with someone who may be sick.
2.Getting to the rink – Please do not carpool to hockey. We know it’s inconvenient and runs counter to the oft repeated hockey ethos of helping each other out, but carpooling has proven to be a significant vector for transmission.
3.At the rink
- Wear your mask at all times when entering and while inside the arena. We are also encouraging everyone to wear a mask while on the ice, including players.
- Plan to limit time in the dressing room to the bare minimum necessary. Put skates on and head right out to the arena.
- Respect dressing room occupancy limits. In most cases, that is 8-10 people, including coaches and parents. If the room is full, either wait your turn or dress in stands. Please don’t stand in groups inside the arena.
- While we know you are itching to chat with other parents, now’s your chance to get outside and enjoy some of that beautiful late February/early March Ottawa weather (wearing masks and keeping distanced please).
