OCMHA Peewee Player Team Assignment

2010-10-11

Announcement of OCMHA Peewee teams for the 2010 - 2011 season. (including minor changes on October 11th, 2010)

This announcement is intended for the families of all OCMHA Peewee players. Players that have been selected for competitive teams may disregard this announcement.

______________________________________

We have now completed three great weeks of player evaluation and sort-outs and are now ready to announce our teams for 2010 - 2011. We have had great talent on the ice and the future looks very bright for Ottawa Centre Minor Hockey. Thank you to the twelve evaluators that have spent considerable hours in cold areas with whistles and clipboards during this time. In addition to on-ice skills (skating, puck-handling, passing, shooting, checking and positional play) we have also used the following criterion to assign players to and balance teams:

·         Coach’s children were assigned to their parent’s team

·         Allocation of over 12 goalies to 6 teams in as balanced a format as possible

·         Generally, second year Peewees were assigned to ‘A’ or ‘B’ teams

·         Satisfying a majority of teammate-friend requests

·         A balance of parent volunteers per team.

We have disbanded the ‘colour’ teams (red, blue and white) of the pre-season and players are now assigned to the letter-number combination specified below (for example ‘B-3’). This would be a good time to update your email sign-up at https://ocmha.goalline.ca/form_team_email_signup.php?lang=1 to ensure that you receive all team communication. I suggest you keep the ‘Peewee All’ team as well as the new team to which you child has been assigned. From this point on you will receive the majority of your communication for the team coach/manager but I am always available to help out.

Parent volunteers make hockey happen and should talk to their child’s coach about a role on their team or on the association executive. Some teams will require assistant coaches, trainers and managers.

All teams will be on the ice over the next two weeks for half-ice team practices approximately twice a week and you will receive email notifications of those times and locations. During that time we will be paying particular attention to our ‘B’ teams to try to ensure that they are as balanced as possible and may make a player change or two to improve balance.  Our regular season will begin approximately Thursday, October 14th, the week after the Thanksgiving week-end. After that you should expect to have about three ice-times a week including games and practices.

Have a great season everyone!
