Registration for 2023-2024 House League

Please do not register for house league if you are trying out for competitive hockey. Only register for house league hockey if you do not intend to try out for competitive hockey, have been released from all competitive teams or withdrawn from the competitive tryout process.  All players that are released from the  competitive tryouts will be assessed fairly and assigned to an appropriate level, house league teams are not finalized until after competitive teams complete their releases.

Financial Assistance:

At OCMHA we believe everyone should have the opportunity to play hockey, we recognize that it may be out of reach for some families without assistance.  If finances are an issue, please contact the President (president@ocmha.ca), or Treasurer (treasurer@ocmha.ca) about programs that may be available to you. All inquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.

First Time Players:

If you are registering a child in minor hockey that has never played organized hockey before, please ensure you live in the OCMHA catchment area prior to registering.   < Confirm OCMHA Residence >  If your address is in our catchment area, and you are registering for the first time, you will be asked to provide proof of date of birth, and confirmation of place of residence.

  • confirmation of date of birth (scan of birth certificate or similar),

  • confirmation of place of residence (scan of utility bill or similar),

  • parent(s) name(s), phone number and email, and an emergency contact name and phone number

This information will be used to confirm that OCMHA is your home association.

Transferring Players:

If your child has played organized minor hockey outside of OCMHA, please contact registrar.ocmha@gmail.com to initiate a transfer from your previous organization before registering.

Collaboration with Ottawa East:

We believe it's crucial for players to be able play on teams approriate for their skill level.  As we have seen a decline in Ottawa Centre and Ottawa East's numbers, we recognize that the two organizations are becoming too small to properly tier players into A, B, and C levels and to make teams of an appropriate size in all divisions.

To this end the Boards of Ottawa East (OE) and Ottawa Centre (OC) have agreed to run some joint teams this coming season.  Details will depend on what is needed once we are on the ice and can evaluate numbers and skills, but we anticipate combining teams at U13 in particular.

In order for your child to be eligible to play on a team, as a parent, you need to complete the Respect in Sport course
 https://heoparent.respectgroupinc.com/koala_final/

This is a one-time thing and one parent only needs to take it once for all of your children that play hockey for the rest of the years that they play. However, if you have an older sibling playing hockey and have already taken this course, you must add your child that is new to hockey to your account by following these instructions -

Withdrawals and Refunds:

From time to time, and for various reasons, a child may not be able to participate in the full season of play. In this case, a partial refund may be possible. All refund requests must be made in writing to registrar@ocmha.ca. Our refund schedule is as follows:

There will again be a shortage of available ice this fall due to the continued closure of several arenas (some temporary, some permanent).  This will mean some practices and games will be at different arenas than usual and there will be some alterations to our typical schedule.
