Note from our President on the Merger and Registration Fees
Dear OCMHA Members,
As communicated in our post-AGM email, we have initiated the merger with Ottawa East.
The benefits of the merger are:
-
Pool resources and talent for stronger teams and programming
-
Expand development opportunities for players and coaches
-
Streamline operations and reduce duplication of efforts, to compensate for Board Volunteer shortages
-
Continue to foster an inclusive, community-driven environment
This season is one of transition and will present unique challenges. For example, like last season, OC registration fees are higher than the OE registration fees.
OE’s lower fees are the result of OE volunteers running highly effective fundraising programs, whereas OC has not had the volunteer man power to coordinate such programs. While players and teams are being merged this coming season, our plans are to harmonize the financials in 2026-2027, which in turn will harmonize registration fees.
If you have further questions concerning this, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. And if you would like to volunteer to create and lead an OC fundraising program, or support this cause in any way, please let me know.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing you on the ice.
Steve Leon
President
