Below is all the details for the day.  The thing to remember is that this schedule could change and I will update you as soon as I hear anything.  The reason for potential changes is that the first games are scheduled to be played outside.  So the first two games are being played at  Trim Road, then the afternoon games are being played in Rockland.  Read below for all the details and dress warm. 


Winter Classic Fun Day/Tournament this Saturday (Feb 6, 2016). We have 4 great teams that will be participating - which should make for a super fun day!

 

The teams are as follows:

·         (A) Cumberland Dukes Midget B5;

·         (B) Ottawa Centre Midget B4;

·         (C) Ottawa Centre Midget B1; and

·         (D) Embrun Midget B.

Please dress for being outside (especially parents/coaches who are not playing/sweating). Hot Chocolate will be served. There is a small portable for players to change – however, small is the operative word.

The first three games will be “Winter Classic Style.” – True Canadian Style J. The weather for this week is going to be all over the place, however, Saturday is looking okay for the ice as it will be just at or slightly below freezing with snow. The rink is suspected to be okay. Please note that the rink staff expect it to still be open as they maintain it well daily (but we are looking at a contingency plan).  We are still working these details out.

 

Below is the schedule for Saturday.

 

10am – 11am: Cumberland Dukes B5 (A) vs. Ottawa Centre B4 (B) (Outdoor Rink – Cardinal Creek, Rink of Dreams. 1825 Trim Road, Orleans ON)

11am – 12pm: Ottawa Centre B1 (C) vs. Embrun Midget B (D)  (Outdoor Rink – Cardinal Creek, Rink of Dreams. 1825 Trim Road)

12pm – 1pm: Ottawa Centre B4 (B) vs. Ottawa Centre B1 (C) (Outdoor Rink – Cardinal Creek, Rink of Dreams. 1825 Trim Road)

**Hot Chocolate Served throughout the morning**

1pm – 2pm: Head to CIH Arena in Rockland (8710 County Rd 17, Rockland, ON K4K 1T2) – about 20 minutes away from outdoor rink. LUNCH (Pizza/Pop/Water) in the community room and surrounding area at CIH Arena. If you have dietary conditions – please advise soonest or bring your own food.

2:15pm – 3:15pm: Skills Competition (All teams) – (CIH Arena, Pad 2)

·         Relay Race;

·         Shootout (elimination); and

·         Fastest Shot (if I can secure sports/speed radar gun) – if not, Puck Control Relay.

*I will send the “rules” and info on the skills competition shortly so that everyone can prep/be informed etc..

3:15pm – 4:15pm: Embrun Midget B (D) vs. Cumberland Dukes Midget B5 (A) (CIH Arena, PAD 2)

4:15pm – 5:15pm: Ottawa Centre Midget B4 (B) vs. Embrun Midget B (D) (CIH Arena)

5:15pm – 6:15pm: Cumberland Dukes Midget B5 (A) vs. Ottawa Centre Midget B1 (C) (CIH Arena, PAD 2)

End of fun day/tournament. 

 

Refs have been confirmed for all games. Each team must have players from their roster and trainer must be present.

 

As this is a fun day – there will be some “fun” prizes, however, there will not be a trophy/banner etc. The day is intended to be fun, good hockey and to play against teams that we don’t meet in the regular season. Each team is coming together with the same intention which should make for an exciting day of hockey, some laughs and good memories.

 

Each team plays 3 games and skills competition. I also tried my best to take into account scheduling conflicts and space out games as much as possible.

 

I will also be taking photos throughout the day. If you do not wish to have your photo taken – please let me know. For privacy reasons, pictures from the day’s events will be posted on a secure Flickr site and I will share the code/password with everyone on this dist list.
